Location

Hicks Bay Motel Lodge is located midway on the Pacific Coast Highway. We are 180km north of Gisborne, and Opotiki is 150km to the south west. Just 30 kms to the East Cape Lighthouse, the most eastern point in mainland New Zealand.

Travelling Tips

Driving State Highway 35 in one day is excessive. It is six hours without stopping. This coastal route is faithfully crooked with little chance to reach good travel speeds to pass the logging trucks. There are many one lane bridges. Be sure to watch the road for wandering stock and the unexpected!
