Seaside Motorcamp and Backpackers is located at 4724 Te Araroa Road, Te Araroa midway on the Pacific Coast Highway. Seaside sits at the eastern most point of mainland New Zealand. It is the furthest eastern point in relation to the International Dateline, where yesterday says goodbye to a new day. All bookings are online using the My Bookings form below. Check in is available at Hicks Bay Motel Lodge 5198 Te Araroa Road all day long, and at Seaside in the evening. Seaside Backpackers is open 365 days a year for quiet sleeping accommodation for males and females, and private couples. Bedding and linen is provided, private bathroom facilities for males and females is provided. There is a kitchen where guests can meet and prepare their own meals, a common room to meet, talk and relax which is combined with the dining room. There is an outside area landscaped by the Kawakawa Bay and Te Aumiti beach with a picnic table and barbecue.
The motor camp offers twenty tent, caravan or camping sites a communal building including kitchen, two male toilets and two showers and two female toilets and showers and barbecue. There can be wind off the sea so choose your site accordingly.
There is beach access by walking or you can drive to the beach using the gates. Maps are located inside the Kitchen. The Backpackers has surf casting rods for fishing and a dart board area. No swimming at the beach at Seaside (a rip), however there is safe swimming north 1km down the beach in the corner by the rocks, at Onepoto Beach in Hicks Bay and at the swimming pool at Hicks Bay Motel Lodge. Seaside clients can enjoy all the facilities at the motel, just stop at reception and register your bush walk to Onepoto Beach, Internet, pool game or glowworm grotto walk. Dont forget to experience another worlds sunrise at the East Cape Lighthouse or some Coastal Country horse trekking.
