We suggest packing some of the following:

  • Long, thick pants or long underwear that you can use to layer your clothes.
  • If you plan to head to the hills for some skiing, be sure to pack your thermals and other wintertime gear.
  • Wool jumpers or pull-overs and gloves to keep you warm if you go outside.
  • Extra warm socks and good, comfortable walking shoes in case you decide you’re going hiking/tramping. There are quite a few great tramping trails in New Zealand, which is a great way to get out and see some of the beautiful scenery.
  • Bring some wet gear, like rain jackets and an umbrella. Springtime can sometimes be a bit drizzly, with an average of 3” of rainfall in Rotorua.
  • Also bring a hat, long sleeves and UV protection for those days when the sun is out. The UV levels in this part of the world can get quite high.
